  i believe that this weeks coming wt is an indictment of all active jw publishers.. in my opinion, it seems to imply that growth in the organization has been stymied by the lackadaisical attitude in the congregations.. they refer to the "token" service of the jews and how it affected true worship and god's spirit.. will discuss further....

  i wrote this to someone else, but i think this demonstrates perfectly why i was outraged when i first found out that jehovah's witnesses do not teach that jesus is the mediator for all mankind.

  it is true that they possess a different doctrine entirely, but to me the outrageous thing was that they do not actively teach any doctrine regarding jesus mediatorship.

  this thread presents indisputable proof of that fact.. in my opinion, it is very important to remember that religions do not tell you the harshest doctrines or the most difficult doctrines to accept during the initial indoctrination phase.. do you have a copy of reasoning from the scriptures?

  Boy do I feel stupid! I have been a JW for 30+ years and never put this together. AuldSoul, I repeat again what I said weeks ago in a personal message to you. I appreciate your factual writing. I have to research this. I too see a problem with how to apply the ransom if there is no mediator.

  what it doesn't talk about is how rutherford tried to conciliate with the nazis in the 30's, failed, and then deliberately ordered the witnesses there into a position that would put them in harm's way, when there were other things they could have done that would have preserved their "christian conscience" and not gotten thousands of them killed.

  i wonder if that poor old brave guy had known that, whether he would still be a witness?

  NWT 2 Corinthians 5:20

  in 2 corinthians 5:20 the nwt says, "we are therefore ambassadors substituting for christ, as though god were making entreaty through us.

  as substitutes for christ we beg: "become reconciled to god.".

  i could not locate any other bible translations that have the word "substituting" in the text.

  While it is probably not the best word usage, I do not see a problem with it. And, there is a distinction between ambassadors and envoys. Ambassadors can enter into legal contracts on behalf of a king/country. Therefore, they are a "substitute" for the king/country. An envoy has no such legal authority.

  There was spec. that it was because she was not a "true believer

  ??????? So, since we are "like the days of Noah" does that mean that non-believing spouses of JWs will survive Armageddon based upon "family merit?" Interesting 'reasoning.'

  i have mentioned it before that i was extremely naive when i was a devout jw's.

  i thought the elders walked on water.

  now that i am out it just amazes me how naive i was.

  I have a friend whose sister and brother-in-law served at Bethel. The brother in position of oversight in the Bethel department in which she worked had the "habit" of resting his arms on sisters' shoulders and then "accidentally" letting them slip father down onto their buttocks. This sisters and her husband reported him for sexual harrassment to the "powers that be" after several instances of this happening to her.

  Long story short, they dismissed her from her position, and moved her into a much harder work position...and spread rumours. Later, they discovered that she was hardly the first sister to compain of his behavior, yet nothing happened to him. (Of course) Eventually, they left Bethel...and the organization.

  It was especially difficult for her because her father sexually molested all the girls in their family...and no one believed them. This really triggered those feelings again.

  i was going to post the follow thread, but i've used up my posts for today, maybe you could do it for me?

  ok folks, i'm going to attempt to write a comphrensive thread on this subject and update it over the next few days so i will be ready for my appeal hearing (which i heard at the memorial might be this coming monday).

  i went to the library at mcmaster and checked out every book by grayson i could find.
